Why Midwifery Care & Home Birth?

Have you thought about how you would like your labor experience to be? Can you picture yourself peacefully sitting under twinkle lights with soft music playing in the background? Perhaps you envision taking a leisurely walk, pausing to slow dance with your birth partner or doula, and being able to eat and drink as your body guides you. And what about the moment when you birth your baby, birthing them into the hands of your partner who marvels at their resemblance? These are all moments that can be realized with a home birth. The experience of birthing your baby is truly unforgettable, and doing so at home can make it comfortable, safe, and empowering.

Midwifery care and home birth with Midwife Sasha are designed to support you through every stage of your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. Are you interested in creating and experiencing a beautiful birth story that will stay with you for a lifetime?

Meet The Midwife & Lactation Consultant

Hi, I’m Sasha, a midwife & lactation consultant. I have the ability to be present in each visit and listen to you and meet you where you are at whether it is preconception questions, your first pregnancy, your sixth baby, you’re new to community care or a combination of these. I do not try to fix all things with kale and supplements, though I might suggest eating more leafy greens and walk you through making herbal infusions. As the only Afro-Indigenous Certified Community Midwife and Lactation Consultant in the Twin Cities, I strive to listen without judgment, respond with compassion, and provide culturally affirming care to each individual, as you are.

The fuel for my “why” for birth work lies within the birth outcomes in America of Black and Indigenous people. The outcomes of these groups are the worst in the nation because of racism. I believe that all people should have access to care through their childbearing years no matter their gender, race, socioeconomic status, citizen status, or physical abilities. I recognize that all people deserve kindness, respect, and dignity. I actively strive to be affirming and welcoming with the care that I offer.

What Clients Are Saying…

Omg, where do I even begin. Sasha and her team were awesome. From the first time I called her until now and my son is two years old, Sasha has been such a blessing. My first pregnancy was during Covid so I was fairly nervous about hospital births but during this time she made me feel so comfortable and made sure I had everything we needed to stay healthy. I had a few family traditions I wanted to do and Sasha encouraged and respected my wishes. She was very informational & compassionate. Her services were affordable and she gave a list of affordable health care providers as well. I never would have thought my first pregnancy would be that great but it was everything and more. She was reassuring during my birth, gentle, & so considerate. I would recommend any pregnant person to contact Sasha. Such a down-to-earth spirit. Thanks again.

Compassionate and knowledgeable midwifery care for your home birth. I am so happy to have been connected with Prisim Birth Services for the home birth of my second child. Midwife Sasha always informed me of my options, her recommendations and supported whatever decisions I chose for my care plan (because we do have choices as birthing folks in which she affirmed that as a fact of the matter). I felt supported throughout my prenatal care and that made me even more secure in our decision to birth at home. She and my doula worked extremely well together and her birth team was also kind and fit right in. My family loves her as she did a beautiful job involving my 4 y/o and spouse in the birth experience. We had a successful home delivery of our newest addition. Would/will do it all again with Prisim Birth Services.
